School History

We have been in existence since 1988 as a home-school program based out of St. Jerome’s school in Vermilion.

In 1992, we became one of the first and the largest willing non-resident boards in Alberta to accept students from all over Alberta.  We had about 500 basic homeschooling students that year. The next year our numbers doubled and the next year they doubled again!

In 1996, the School of Hope was created in response to government cuts in funding for the basic homeschooling students and an opportunity to provide more support for our students and families.

Today, the School of Hope and Vermilion Home Schooling are widely considered leaders in distance and home-based education, serving thousands of students and their families.
