Family Liasion Program

The Family School Liaison Program (FSL) is committed to helping students be successful in school by providing skills-focused short term counseling services.

  • the program provides 8-12 sessions with a student and their family
  • The FSL program can provide: individual and/or family counseling (skills and strategies), presentations, crisis intervention, resources, and referrals.

With Consent
FSL Workers will work with the students and /or families who agree to receive services. The individual's guardian must provide written consent.

In Confidence
All information disclosed during sessions will be confidential. Specific information will be provided outside of the family only when written authorization has been provided by parent or guardian, except when the FSL Worker is legally required to report, or for the purposes of programming when its deemed to be in the best interest of the child/youth.

There is no fee for this service. Funding for this program is provided, in part through the Eastern Edge RCSD.

FSL Workers are directly involved with the students and their parents in the following areas

  • Relaxation
  • Performance Anxiety

Social Issues
The FSL Program provides crisis intervention to students and/or their families. FSL Workers address issues with students and/or families that could include:

  • Anger Management
  • Anxiety
  • Stress Management
  • Bullying Issues
  • Emotion Recognition
  • Relationships
  • Peer Relationships
  • Self Esteem
  • Parenting
  • Life Skills
  • Grief and Loss
  • Friendship Skills

Advocates
FSL Workers will support families and/ or students to advocate for their needs.

FSL Resources
The FSL Workers can direct parents to resources in their community
