Student Growth & Achievement

Goal

Students progress in their learning, relative to identified provincial learning outcomes and consistent with their needs, interests and
aspirations.

Outcomes

  • Students use ongoing assessment feedback to reflect continuously on their progress, identify strengths and areas of need and set new learning goals.
  • Students achieve prescribed provincial learning outcomes, demonstrating strengths in literacy and numeracy.
  • Students are active, healthy and well.
  • Students apply knowledge, understanding and skills in real life contexts and situations.
  • Students advance reconciliation by acquiring and applying foundational knowledge of First Nations, Métis and Inuit experiences.
  • Students demonstrate understanding and respect for the uniqueness of all learners.

Primary Strategies

 
  • Providing PD opportunities that highlight current trends and best practices in reading, writing, speaking, listening and numeracy instructional and assessment practices.
  • Creating literacy and numeracy leads within each school to provide instructional strategies and designs within all curricular areas.
  • Inclusive Education Leads and FSLW staff collaborate with wrap around services to provide early intervention strategies aligned to developing learning environments designed to ensure the success of all students. 
  •  Organize field trips to volunteer for various community support programs.
  • Collecting and delivering donations to community support groups.
  • Organize "legislative" field trip to promote responsible citizenship.
  • Piloting an "Activity Facilitator" to increase student opportunities for enrichment activities.

OnGoing Strategies

 
               
  • Providing the opportunity for teacher collaboration to visit and observe other teachers and their classrooms to expand and enrich specific expectations and programs that highlight literacy and numeracy.
  • Analyze PAT and DIP results to inform best practices and target needs.
  • Implementing formative and summative feedback in a timely manner to inform and enhance student achievement.
  • Utilize student information systems (SIS - PowerSchool, Extranet, IPP - Clevr) to provide relevant and timely updates to inform and guide student achievement progress updates.
  • Identify resources, learning activities and professional development opportunities to support student and staff in the acquisition reconciliation and FNMI knowledge.
  • Provide Dual Credit course delivery through the School Of Hope as a Distance Education program to diversify course offerings.
  •  Continue the organization of community workshops and field trips that build community.
  • Having Zoom career fairs and University information sessions. (expand include gr. 7-9)

  • The number of Learning Support Teacher training sessions and the ability of teachers to design and implement instruction and assessment practices aligned to the wrap around assessment recommendations.
  • Student Gr 4 - Q8 - I know that my teacher wants me to do my best work. - 100% - Goal - 100%
  • Student  Gr 7-12 Q11 How satisfied are you with teachers challenging you to do your best at school? - 97% very satisfied or satisfied - Goal 100%
  • Teachers Q37 - How satisfied are you the school Division is a good place to teach, learn and grow? 94% very satisfied or satisfied - Goal 95%
  • Support Staff - Q23 How satisfied are you the school Division is a good place to teach, to learn and grow? 80% very satisfied or satisfied - Goal 90%
  • Parent Q21 - How satisfied are you that your child is learning the skills and attitudes he/she will need when he/she leaves school? - 78% - Goal 80%
  • Have a minimum of 1 volunteer opportunity per center per year.
